Q. What Does Self-Love Mean To You and How Do You Practice it?
Self-love to me is keeping promises that I make to myself, I think that's where confidence stems from as well. It’s just like saying, “I'm going to do this for me.” And then following through.
We all have our days where maybe it's not the easiest to do that. But I really like to prove to myself that if I say I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it, especially in the health and self-care realm.
So that's how I practice it - just by always showing up for myself, even when I don't want to do something healthy or set a boundary. It's being my own advocate. And I've had to do that a lot as a woman in the industry.
Q. Can you share some specific examples of challenges you've faced where you had to rely on self-love to navigate through?
The biggest challenges for me were when I was told that I wasn't good enough, especially when it came from someone I respected in the industry. It made me feel small and question my talent and capabilities. But I've learned to tap into my self-love and respond from a place of empowerment.
As I get older, I feel more grounded in my self-love, which allows me to respond confidently and feel less hurt.
I still give myself time to be sad and cry if I need to sometimes, but I don't let it stop me from moving forward toward my dreams. I love music - it’s my passion. So no matter what happens, I’m going to show up and do it for ME.
Q. What does sensuality mean to you? How do you play with your sexiness and sensuality in your music?
As I navigate the music industry, I've been thinking about the mixed messages around sensuality in women. It's both celebrated and stigmatized, and I've faced pushback for expressing myself in certain ways.
But sensuality is a fundamental part of who I am, and I refuse to suppress it to appease others.
Many of the iconic artists I admire have faced similar criticism, so I'm determined to push through these limiting stereotypes and not let them define me. It's frustrating that this is still a conversation we're having, but I won't let it hold me back.
Q. What are some of the daily ways that you love to express your sensuality?
I enjoy shooting sexy content as it empowers me personally. I've always been aware of being looked at in a certain way, so I have fun with it and express myself fully.
My subscription-based platform allows people to see that side of me more, and I'm not afraid to show that side through my music as well. Owning my body and being confident in my sensuality are empowering for me.
Tell us more about your song, Pheromones! Where did the inspiration come from?
Pheromones was the first single I released when I moved to Nashville. I got really inspired by my current relationship at the time. We had a discussion about pheromones, and how when you're in love with somebody, you can pick up on their ‘scent’ and everything about them that others don’t even notice.
So when I went into the studio that day, my producer had this really moody, dark, sexy beat. And I thought pheromones would be a perfect topic to dive into with the song. So I tried to describe the feeling throughout the verses of that magnetic, almost inexplicable attraction you can have with someone, including their scent.
And that’s how the song came to be. Even the chorus bounces up on the notes like little chemicals, you know. It all just fits. I love it.
Tell us about your favorite Booty Parlor products and how you use them.
I've been searching for a fragrance that would make people want to hug me and say, "Oh my God, you smell amazing," and this is the one!
